Mysterious Swedish duo The Knife have never been a band to play it safe, and that’s certainly true of this very odd new single.
The first to be culled from the excellent Shaking The Habitual full length, instead of simply repackage an old track and add some forgettable B-Sides, the band have offered us an entirely new track, by an entirely different artist. Apparently after being asked by the duo for a remix, producer Planningtorock instead became fixated on the lyrics from ‘Full of Fire’, and ended up crafting them into a new track entirely.
‘Let’s Talk About Gender Baby, Let’s Talk About You & Me’ is the result, and somehow still manages to capture the essence of The Knife while clearly standing on its own, somewhere in the musical wilderness. Take a listen below, and check out the rather splendid cassette-style artwork.
‘Let’s Talk About Gender Baby, Let’s Talk About You & Me’ will be released on October 14/15 via Mute.
