Crosswires

Next weekend, Deptford and New Cross will play host to a small but comely new festival, Crosswires.

The shindig will take place on Saturday May 3, slap bang in the middle of the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend, and French beat dude débruit is the big draw on the bill. With a clutch of releases on Civil Music behind him, his trademark sound – head-nod, drawing from exotica and African influences – continues to slap grins of faces. He’ll be joined by dub reggae outfit Resonators, afro-beat team The Busy Twist, Cajun dance team The Boat Band and DJs Mango Park and Savage Henry, plus an assortment of local acts.

Most of the musical activity will cluster around The Amersham Arms; much of the festival is free-to-enter, but details on ticketing and the full bill are available over at the Crosswires website.
