More Daft Punk speculation, courtesy of Chic figurehead Nile Rodgers.

Almost a year ago, Rodgers revealed that he’d been working with the French duo on new material. The team-up sounds like it was productive: Rodgers called the as-yet-unreleased results “amazing”, and described  “dancing around my dining room” with the disco droids.

As NME report, Rodgers has once again resumed his unofficial (and, to be perfectly honest, somewhat provisional) role as a spokesperson for the pair. On Friday, Rodgers uploaded a post onto his personal blog hinting that the collaboration would see the light of day before the year is out.

The post sees Rodgers describe his long-held affection for Japan, intimate that he’ll back in the country before the end of the year, and, crucially, claim that “the next time I set foot in Japan, my collaboration with Daft Punk would have started to hit people’s eardrums”. In his words: “2013 Won’t Be Boring!”.

Daft Punk meanwhile definitely are, definitely aren’t and definitely might be touring later this year. As part of the sessions for their new album, they’ve also allegedly been working with Paul Williams and Giorgio Moroder
