Lil Wayne released from hospital, seizures reportedly due to "work ethic"

Good news: Lil Wayne has been discharged from hospital following his much-publicised health scare

The whole saga began on Tuesday when Wayne suffered a seizure at a video shoot. Hours after his release, the rapper reportedly suffered another set of fits, and was brought into Los Angeles’ Cedar Sinai hospital. Wildly conflicting reports subsequently emerged regarding his condition: TMZ reported that Wayne was deep in a coma and had been read his last rites, whereas Wayne’s friends (and Twitter account) stressed he was awake and well.

Having been moved out of intensive care yesterday, the rapper has now been fully discharged from hospital. YMCMB president Mack Maine announced the news on Twitter, writing: “Thanks to Cedar Sinai for everything!!! @LilTunechi has been officially been released and is headed home….God is great”. As Pigeons And Planes note, fellow YMCMB boss Birdman spoke to radio host Angie Martinez about the incident, and claimed that Wayne’s seizure was “nothing to do with drugs”. Birdman also stressed that Wayne was never in a coma, and that the seizures were a result of his “work ethic” rather than anything untoward. As much as we’d love to believe that account, we suspect it isn’t quite the whole story. Click below to stream the interview.

Update: Wayne (or someone using his Twitter account) tweets: “I’m feeling a lot better and again thk u all for ur love and prayers. It was truly felt…pause.”
