Radiohead launches free app, PolyFauna

Plans for a new album may be up in the air, but Radiohead’s latest offering is up in the cloud.

In a surprising move, Radiohead have launched a free app called PolyFauna. Born from the The King of Limbs sessions, the app uses “the imagery and the sounds” from ‘Bloom’ and “it comes from an interest in early computer life-experiments and the imagined creatures of our subconscious.”

PolyFauna is described as an “experimental collaboration” between the band, digital studio Universal Everything, and longtime collaborators Nigel Godrich and Stanley Donwood. “Your screen is the window in tho an evolving world,” according to the app’s description, and users are encouraged to “move around to look around,” “follow the red dot,” “wear headphones,” and “get some pretty strange looks on the train.”

The app is available for download for iOS and Android platforms. We’ve only taken a quick look at the app, but this one is for fans of randomly generated 3D environments who like a little interactivity with their music.
