Third person dies following SXSW crash

A third person has died from injuries sustained in last week’s car crash at SXSW.

The victim, named as Sandy Le, was injured after being hit by a car outside The Mohawk venue in Austin, Texas, last Thursday.

Local resident Jamie West, 27, and Steven Craenmehr, 35, from Amsterdam, were also killed in the crash. A further 22 others were injured. Seven people are still in hospital.

The driver, Rashad Owens, has been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. The 21-year-old is accused of driving drunk and fleeing from police, then intentionally driving into a crowd of festival attendees. Owens, a rapper, was reportedly due to perform in town that evening.
