Metallica confirmed as Glastonbury headliners

Enter sandmen.

Confirming what had been reported last week, Metallica will indeed be Glastonbury’s Saturday headliner.

“Worst kept secret in rock and roll is now confirmed,” tweets the band. Making their first Glastonbury appearance, Metallica will join Arcade Fire and Kasabian at the top of the bill, which was largely unveiled last month.

Other new additions to the bill include The London Sinfonietta and Jonny Greenwood, Deltron 3030, HAIM and The Horrors.

Last year, drummer/anti-MP3-crusader Lars Ulrich expressed the band’s interest in playing the festival: “We’ve been fortunate enough to play every other festival on this planet numerous times, so Glastonbury is the only one that’s eluding us.”
