Dr. Dre’s 1992 classic The Chronic will be digitally available for the first time ever on Apple Music.

The album wasn’t even available on Dre’s Beats Music streaming service, so it’s unclear why he’s chosen now to release it. As Rolling Stone notes, the rapper was involved in a legal battle with Death Row Records over his digital  catalogue, though he won the rights to retain 100 per cent of The Chronic’s online sales in 2011.

The Chronic won’t be the only album streaming exclusively on Apple Music when it launches tomorrow – Taylor Swift recently announced her album 1989 would be on the service after Apple’s u-turn on royalty payment.

Apple Music launches tomorrow (June 30) at 8am PDT. [via The Verge]
