After two years of club nights showcasing instrumental grime and a pair of free compilations, Boxed makes its label arm official in December.

The first 12″ is a various artists affair showcasing some of the sometimes-unsung producers who’re played regularly at the night. Trends, Spokes and Lloyd SB all contribute solo tracks, while Boxed co-founder Slackk teams up with Dullah Beatz – best known for his trap-cum-grime demolition jobs and collaborations with Big Narstie – for ‘Forest Walk’, which combines the longing melodies of Slackk’s debut album Palm Tree Fire with wonky drums and Dullah’s trademark ‘huh!’ sounds. They should feel out of place, but totally work.
