A memorial service was held in honour of Prince on Sunday night (May 15) at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Minnetonka, Minneapolis where he worshipped.

Tributes were led by Drake’s uncle, Sly and the Family Stone bassist Larry Graham, who reportedly introduced Prince to the religion, according to Billboard.

About 500 people turned up to the invitation-only event, but only 50 were allowed into the church.

Fans will have a chance to pay their respects in August, as Prince’s family have confirmed plans for a public memorial service.

Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park home on April 21, with a California doctor who specialises in prescription drug addiction saying that the singer had reached out for help before he died. He was cremated in a private ceremony attended by his close friends and family last month.
