Red Bull Music Academy Radio launches its dedicated iPhone app today, allowing users to access new shows from The Bug, Instra:mental, The xx, Jackmaster, L-Vis 1990 and Cluster while on the move.

As well as a steady stream of new shows, the RBMA Radio site – accessible here or via the new app – grants listeners access to a vast archive of radio content, including sessions with Theo Parrish,  Pet Shop Boys and Morgan Geist (Metro Area) and countless others. A mix of in-depth interviews, live shows and specially-recorded DJ sets make one of this largest and best sources of cutting-edge music and information on the web.

Shows can be streamed individually, or you can tune into the 24/7 stream.

Current highlights include a ‘Fireside Chat’ with Kevin Martin AKA The Bug, who has recently been recording for Hyperdub with his group King Midas Sound. He talks about his life in music, including [edit – The Bug’s, not Kevin Martin’s, first album] Tapping The Conversation, an alternative soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation, and collaborations with the likes of Mark Stewart, John Zorn and Anti-Pop Consortium.

The xx, still riding high on the success of their self-titled debut LP, participate in a ‘Headphone Highlights’ show, playing a bunch of their favourite tracks – from artists as diverse as Lauryn Hill, Burial, Cocteau Twins and Kyla.

Al Bleek and Kid Drama, AKA drum ‘n bass evolvers Instra:mental, talk about their fresh approach to club rollage and often breathttaking ventures into dubstep and house terrirtory.

The two grand old gentlemen of kosmische music, Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius, AKA Cluster, contribute a live set recorded at the Elevate festival in Graz. This year sees the European release of the duo’s first studio album in 16 years, but Cluster have never stopped honing their craft, building on the sound which made their name in the 1970s and influenced so many ambient, techno and electronic artists.

Also recorded at Elevate, but a million miles away from the amniotic textures and pulsations of Cluster, is a b2b DJ set from FACT favourites Jackmaster and L-Vis 1990. Jack is one of the ringleaders of Glasgow’s unstoppable Number crews, and probably our favourite party DJ bar none; London’s L-Vis is co-creator of the Night Slugs clubnight and label with Bok Bok. Expect an ear-scorching blend of funky, b-more, dubstep, grime and gutter-house, and nary a dull moment.
