Icelandic producer/composer and frequent Bjork collaborator Valgeir Sigurdsson readies his second album, the soundtrack to the documentary film Dreamland.

The Dreamland soundtrack will be released on April 12 via Sigurdsson’s own Bedroom Community, the label that recently put out Ben Frost’s superb By the Throat.

The film itself is a documentary about the exploitation of Iceland’s natural resources, and apparently “tells a story about huge things – the fortune of a whole nation, the destruction of vast landscapes, and the global economic forces, greater still than any nation, that fuel it all.” Ben Frost contributes, as do fellow composers Nico Muhly and Daniel Bjarnason, American vocalist Sam Amidon and a small orchestra specifically assembled for the record.

As well as working with Bjork (he handled production duties on Selmasongs, Vespertine, Family Tree and Medulla), Sigurdsson has worked on film scores for Lars von Trier (Dancer in the Dark), Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich) and Matthew Barney (Drawing Restraint 9), and collaborated with Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and CocoRosie.

Bedroom Community will be in the UK this April for the label’s Whale Watching Tour, bringing Sam Amidon, Ben Frost, Nico Muhly and Sigurdsson himself to the following dates:

20th London @  The Barbican
21st NCH, Dublin, IRL
22nd St Annes Church, Manchester
23rd St Georges Church, Brighton
24th Arnolfini, Bristol
25th Concert Hall, Reading
