We first profiled Brooklyn duo Tanlines a year or so ago, and have had a musical crush on ’em ever since.

Now it seems that Eric Emm and Jesse Cohen’s brand of eccentric dance – “influenced by the over-produced studio pop music of the 80s and 90s” – is getting attention in the wider world, particularly by those who love the grooving tendencies of Gang Gang Dance and !!! but aren’t so hot on their shouting and screaming.

Having remixed the likes of Telepathe, El Guincho, Dirty Projectors and Au Revoir Simone, and released the ‘New Flowers’ 12″ on Young Turks / XL late last year, this month sees the release of the more substantial Settings EP. World domination is sure to follow.

Today’s Daily Download is a disarmingly sweet and sunny remix of EP stand-out ‘Real Life’ by Basic Needs. After all, summer’s only two months away.
