The Barcelona-based Sónar festival has announced its first three-day outing in Chicago.

Sónar Chicago will take place on September 9-11, primarily at the Chicago Cultural Center and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. Adventures In Modern Music, a series of events staged in collaboration with The Wire, will present additional performances in clubs and other venues around the city.

Organisers hope to establish Sónar Chicago as a regular happening; the line-up emphasizes Chicago and Catalan talent while also featuring a number of international stars of electronic music and art. Notable inclusions on the 2010 bill are Martyn (pictured), Oval, Jimmy Edgar, Ben Frost, Nosaj Thing (presenting a visual show) and Slew Thing feat. Kid Koala.

AIMM (Adventures In Modern Music) call upons the Rhys Chatham Trio, Sleep and Efterklang among others.
