Singer Whitney Houston, who died in Los Angeles this weekend aged 48, may have drowned in the bath.

TMZ, who claim to have spoken to police at the scene of her death as well as employees at the hotel, have reported that Houston’s autopsy today revealed that she died with water in her lungs, though the medical examiner “needs to determine exactly how much before they can rule whether she died as a result of drowning”. Houston was allegedly found face down in the bath by one of her entourage, though she could, of course, have been dead before going under the water.

Various sources have reported that no illegal drugs were found in Houston’s hotel room, though prescription drugs were present.

The troubled singer’s death has cast a sizeable shadow over this year’s Grammy Awards, which opened with LL Cool J leading a prayer for her. For more details of this weekend’s story, head to our original post on it.
