Danny Brown's XXX finally granted vinyl release

Danny Brown‘s XXX is finally getting a vinyl release.

Considered by many to be the best hip-hop album of last year, XXX may only be Brown’s second solo album but it already feels like the Detroit rapper’s magnum opus: an honest, brilliant examination of drugs, sex, paranoia, getting old and the city he calls home. It was released for free through Fools’ Gold, and now almost a year later, is finally receiving a full physical release for Record Store Day, on double 12″ vinyl with an added 7″ single.

Now, there’s certainly an argument to be made that when an album deserves a full release as badly as XXX did, the only framing its issue should require is the albums’ own quality – you’d like to think that it would’ve been granted a vinyl release regardless of Record Store Day. But that’s a minor quibble: what’s important here is that a great record is finally being released as just that, a record.

It’ll be limited to 1000 copies, and released on Record Store Day, April 21.
