Night Slugs has spent the last few years on the ascendant, and rightly so. It appears, however, that the label is still eager to keep one foot on the (under)ground.

The label have launched a new series of 12″s designed to reassert Night Slugs’ status as a dyed-in-the-wool club label. The releases in the series will showcase particularly floor-ready music from artists on the imprint. Although the Night Slugs/Club Constructions division could be described as perhaps a little arbitrary – Lil Silva, Girl Unit et al can hardly be accused of turning out sedate music – the results should be of real interest.

Night Slugs cheque-signer L-Vis 1990 will kick off the series with a five-track EP titled Club Constructions Vol 1. Having released his debut LP Neon Dreams on Island offshoot PMR, the EP represents his first output on the label since 2010. Woe betide the well-intentioned DJ who chucks any of these tracks into their set indiscriminately: The release genuinely comes with the strap-line “strictly for peak time usage”.

No release date as yet, but Club Constructions Vol. 1 is expected sooner rather than later. The track list is below:

Tracklist:
1. Workout
2. Video Drone
3. Rubber Crash
4. Hard Drive
5. Girl Clap
