Footage has crept online of The Stone Roses’ first concert in 16 years.

As Prefix note, the Manchester combo performed an impromptu gig at Warrington’s Parr Hall yesterday evening. The show was announced only hours before the band took to the stage. Tickets were given free to fans who had bought a ticket to one of their forthcoming super-shows or had previously purchased Roses merchandise.

Unsurpisingly, the set leaned heavily towards their classic 1989 debut. The band played eleven songs, although they shied away from airing any of their confirmed new material. The micro-clip below, recorded on the night, shows the band tearing through anthem of anthems ‘Made Of Stone’. The band sound pleasingly forthright, and Ian Brown can apparently still swagger with the best of them.

Update: as noted  below, clips – the first of many, no doubt – have also now emerged of the band performing ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. Cast your eyes down to enjoy.
