Nobody does arch political commentary quite like Devo.

Thanks goodness, then, that they’ve decided to weigh in on this year’s US elections with a well timed single release [via Slicing Up Eyeballs].

“Don’t Roof Rack, Me Bro! (Remember Seamus)” commemorates the events of a 1983 family holiday, in which Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney drove for 12 hours with his pet dog Seamus secured in a car roof-mounted kennel.

The single will be released on August 25, and is timed neatly to coincide with Devo founder Gerald V. Casale’s “Remember Seamus” campaign, which urges voters to “make 2012 the year where animals like Seamus are valued and honesty is praised.”

As if that wasn’t enough to ram the message home, there’s also a smartphone game: The Crate Escape: Seamus Unleashed reportedly allows players to help Seamus “get revenge against his arch enemy Mitt Romney”, and is set for release on August 26 — which also happens to be National Dog Day.
