LA-Montreal duo LOL Boys going on hiatus, share a clutch of superb pop edits from recent FADER mix

The dance floor alchemists will part ways to focus on solo efforts.

While Jerome Potter is from Los Angeles and Markus Garcia is of Montreal, LOL Boys was primarily an Internet-based collaboration. Not only is their music and visual style heavily indebted to the subculture accelerator that is the Internet, but the pair were rarely in the same place as the same time.

After a handful of releases for Unknown to the Unknown, Palms Out Sounds, Discobelle, and Friends of Friends (including the smooth Changes EP), the duo will take an entirely logical hiatus. Their final release will be a remix EP of Changes.

Potter, who co-runs club music label Body High with Samo Soundboy, will continue as Jerome LOL and has already shared the jazzy house fusion of ‘Happy/Sad’ (below). A solo project from Markus is forthcoming.

As a farewell gift to fans, the duo has shared the songs they remixed for their recent FADER mix, including house re-imaginations of pop pablum like ‘Call Me Maybe’ and ‘Levels.’ Download the edits now via Mediafire.
