As Kraftwerk fans will know, the pioneering Germany group have been playing highlights from their back catalogue across eight-day residencies in New York and Dusseldorf.
Under the banner 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, these residencies see the group perform eight of their studio albums in full – Autobahn (1974), Radio-Aktivität (1975), Trans-Europe Express (1977), Die Mensch-Maschine (1978), Computerwelt (1981), Techno Pop (1986), The Mix (1991) and Tour de France Soundtracks (2003) – accompanied by 3D visualizations, with each album performed on a different night.
An email sent by the Tate Modern this morning reveals that the next 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 will take place at the London museum on the following dates, with director Chris Dercon saying that “as a former power station, Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall is an ideal venue for Kraftwerk’s explorations of technology, energy and rhythm. Bringing together music, video and performance, these events will be true gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art.”
Tickets go on sale at 7.30am, Wednesday December 12, and will be available here.
