July 7 will seeNew Order will curate a day of music at the Jodrell Bank Observatory.

The event marks the latest in a series of shows at Jodrell Bank – which is situated just outside Manchester – that have included performances by Flaming Lips and Elbow. Sigur Ros will also be performing at the observatory this Summer.

New Order have recruited ex-Smiths man Johnny Marr, Jake Evans, The Whip and Hot Vestry to support them, and have promised to “try to do something special there”. For a taste of what might be in store, NME report that Sigur Ros’s Summer show there will see visuals projected onto the observatory’s 76-metre long telescope, though if we’re honest, we’re hoping for Peter Hook to crash the party in a Hacienda-themed Death Star.
