In a parallel universe, J-Biebs and Young Nigga are sitting pretty atop the charts.

With Wolf about to drop, Billboard sat down with Tyler, The Creator for a short chat: conversational flashpoints include Tyler’s advertising work with Mountain Dew, the virtues of Wes Anderson’ and the substantial margins on sock sales. Most interesting is the revelation that Tyler and cohort Frank Ocean wrote a track for Bieber’s squillion-selling 2012 LP Believe, which was subsequently rejected by the singer. Tyler also had some strern words for the Canadian star:

“I want to take Justin Bieber for a month and just lock him up in a cage where we sit and make music. He’s one of the most successful people in the world, but his music could be so much tighter.”

For those hankering for a teen-pop/Golf Wang team-up, never fear: Tyler appears on Miley Cyrus’ forthmcoming LP. Tyler’s Wolf LP is out today; Ocean, meanwhile, has just announced his first London date in 18 months.
