Azari & III announce split

The throwback house act hint at new projects to come.

Azari & III, the group built around the production duo of Dinamo Azari and Alixander III, have announced their split. In a Facebook post, Alphonse Alixander Lanza III explained the decision and made reference to a possible future project, ‘Aeon of the Phoenix’:

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, the art project known as AZARI & III has done its work, run its course and is, for all intents and purposes, a momentary blip in time, now forever imprinted on the Universe. Our recent EP entitled “Extinction Event” was just that, an extinguishing of the flame and a bird into the fire of blissful, eternal oblivion. It was heaven, it was hell, and I wouldn’t take it back if I could. Now comes the Aeon of the Phoenix, which rises from the flames impervious. Long live the new flesh.

The Polaris Prize-nominated Canadian quartet, who utilised the soft-hard vocal pairing of singers Starving Yet Full and Fritz Helder, scored a crossover success in 2011 with their self-titled album and Chicago-flavoured tracks ‘Hungry For The Power’ and ‘Reckless (With Your Love)’. Most recently they joined Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label to release an album of remixes by the likes of Jamie Jones and Tiga, which included Nicolas Jaar’s mesmerising take on ‘Into The Night’.
