The iconic street featured on the cover of Beastie Boys‘ influential album Paul’s Boutique could be renamed.
LeRoy McCarthy, who was also behind the scheme to rename a corner in Brooklyn after the Notorious B.I.G. has put together a Change.org petition to have the intersection of Ludlow Street and Rivington Street in Manhattan’s Lower East Side renamed to “Beastie Boys Square.”
Since his application for Biggie was rejected, McCarthy has clearly set his sights on more attainable goals, and the Beastie Boys already managed to get one lasting dedication when a park in Brooklyn Heights was renamed Adam Yauch Park earlier this year.
McCarthy plans to present the petition to Manhattan’s Community Board 3 and City Council in January, so get signing. [via Pitchfork]
