Twitter claims to continue wanting to experiment with music-based content.

The Twitter #Music app has been removed from the iTunes app store last night and will be discontinued on April 18 according to a statement made via the official Twitter account for the app.

The short-lived app, which only launched last year, was intended to provide users with a way to interact with and follow music being discussed on the social network. In the face of poor reception and take up it’s now being discontinued at a time when the landscape of music consumption and sharing is still shifting.

There are no clear plans yet for what Twitter’s next move in the world music content will be, though the official account for Twitter #Music stated that: “We continue to experiment with new ways to bring you great content based on the music activity we see every day on Twitter.”
