Robbie Cooper, ex-drummer for LuckyMe’s American Men and more recently Scottish post-rockers Laeto, died today.

Cooper, 35, had been struggling with an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer for some time, yet had managed to keep surprisingly upbeat about the situation, even finding the time to keep a darkly comic blog about his struggle.

LuckyMe boss Dominic Sum Flannigan added some touching remarks via Twitter, calling Cooper “effortlessly smart, kind, gentle and talented,” and said that they would be arranging something from the label towards his foundation this week. A fund was set up last year to help Cooper’s wife Miriam pay for the mounting costs, and can still be viewed and added to.
