Looks like Daft Punk are too busy for Disney nowadays.
Ever wanted to know what Giorgio Moroder soundtracking a video game might sound like? Well, if a recent interview with Clash is correct, we could be seeing just that. Over a breakfast round table discussion, the Italo-disco legend admitted he had been recruited by Disney to compose some music for a forthcoming video game based on Tron.
While there’s no information on whether the game will revolve around one of the prior Tron movies or the rumoured third film, Moroder also hinted at the involvement of another EDM titan. “I’m going to meet Skrillex next week when I’m back”, Moroder said. “We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let’s see if he’s interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs.”
In addition, Moroder revealed he will be working on a film soundtrack, though he’s being cagey about what the movie is. “I have an offer to do a big movie. I cannot tell you what, but it’s… not a 150 million dollars but a big movie, big production. So I have to go back into that, it won’t be easy. I do this with a great musician and a great composer, so we do it together.”
It won’t be the first time Moroder has worked on film soundtracks – he’s notable for writing the scores to Scarface, Flashdance and several other classics. Moroder’s comeback in recent years hasn’t been received well by everyone however. The EDM-friendly sound of last year’s ’74 Is The New 24′ got a bit of a kicking from the FACT Singles Club last year.
