Anthony Parasole, Tin Man, Nick Höppner and Gilles Peterson will help inaugurate the revamped venue.

Brighton’s seafront club Audio is about to undergo a full makeover before reopening as Patterns in May. Under the direction of Mothership Group, the team behind The Book Club, Queen of Hoxton and Stories in east London, the south coast venue will get a full upgrade to its sound system before coming back seven days a week.

Friday and Saturday nights will see the bar and club fuse into one venue serving up house, techno and all shades of forward-thinking electronic music, with Bugged Out!, Tief and Dimensions Festival among the big promoters down to bring their sound to the revamped club, while local forces including Rhythm Junction, Mute, First Floor, Disco Deviant and Sequencer will help channel talent closer to home.

The launch weekend kicks off on May 13 when Patterns hosts The Great Escape festival’s official afterparties in collaboration with Resident Advisor and Noisey. The rest of the opening season programme is already taking shape with DJ sets from Anthony Parasole, DVS1, Dave Clarke, Amir Alexander, Nick Höppner, Gilles Peterson and HNNY and a live show from Tin Man.

Excitingly for local DJs, the club will also launch an informal audition process to look for “collectors and selectors with personality and ambition” to become residents at the venue.

The club reopens on May 13 – keep up to date via Mothership Group. Breach and Simian Mobile Disco play the club’s two closing parties this weekend (February 27-28).
