Apple’s Beats Music looks to go toe-to-toe with Tidal and Spotify.

Bloomberg reports that Apple has asked more than a dozen artists — including Florence and the Machine and Taylor Swift — for exclusive deals with Beats Music.

The move is seen as a counter to Tidal, the Jay Z-led streaming platform that is offering exclusives from owners Beyoncé, Rihanna and more.

Apple and Beats are armed with “a whole ecosystem of devices with a loyal and rabid fan base,” said MusicWatch’s Russ Crupnick. “A lot of the infrastructure is already in place.”

Beats Music is expected to be retooled and relaunched this year, with Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor reportedly playing a major role in redesigning the iPhone’s music app.
