TIME Magazine has unveiled this year’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World (or the United States, more accurately).

Among the Titans section this year is Kanye West, with entrepreneur Elon Musk writing a short essay praising Yeezy’s “incredible tenacity”.

“Now that he’s a pop-culture juggernaut, he has the platform to achieve just that. He’s not afraid of being judged or ridiculed in the process. Kanye’s been playing the long game all along, and we’re only just beginning to see why,” writes Musk.

Björk was crowned an Icon with a tribute from performance artist Marina Abramovic. “As an artist, she’s always on the edge of everything, but it’s not trendy because even when she is working with the latest technology, fashion, images or sounds, she is always offering her own, deeply personal world,” says Abramovic.

“If you are really true to yourself and really follow your intuition in the most rigorous way, there is a moment that becomes universal, that reaches everybody. That’s the real magic of Björk – she teaches us the courage to be ourselves.”

Taylor Swift was also named an Icon. Mariska Hargitay, the actor who stars as Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, describes the pop star as a “megawatt talent, an extraordinary spirit, an impossibly charming blend of impishness, poise and radiance to spare.”

Kanye appears on one of the covers of this week’s magazine. His wife Kim Kardashian has also been dubbed a Titan, with praise from TV cook and convicted fraudster Martha Stewart.
