Wolfgang Voigt has announced the tenth entry into his Rückverzauberung series of conceptual albums.

The latest instalment is titled Nationalpark and is inspired by the opening of Hunsrück-Hochwald, a new national park that opened in Germany’s Rheinland-Pfalz region in May.

Nationalpark contains one single 62-minute piece that doubles as the score for an art installation. The installation places loudspeakers in a natural environment, with the intention of simulating an “acoustic hike through the forest”.

Kompakt describe the album as a “listening experience between romantic rapture and focussed pop art”. The freeform, improvised piece utilises strings and winds, processed with electronic equipment. Nationalpark’s forest theme and ambient focus reference Voigt’s canonical work as Gas.

Nationalpark will be released on May 25. You can preview the album on the Kompakt website. [via RA]
