Apple’s streaming service will allow artists to share more with fans

More details have leaked regarding Apple’s rumoured streaming service.

According to 9to5Mac, sources claim it will feature a social networking aspect. Like Apple’s discontinued Ping service, the service will allow artists to have their own pages they can use to post videos, photos, concert updates and track previews.

Artists will reportedly be able to use their page to promote other artists if they wish, but unlike the defunct Ping service that nobody used, the new feature will be limited to artists only.

The details come in the wake of news that Apple has been putting pressure on record labels to force streaming services like Spotify to abandon their free tiers, and that the company poached several BBC Radio 1 employees to work on the service. It’s highly expected that Apple will confirm their plans at the WWDC on June 8.
