DC believes a proposed magazine might confuse people into believing it’s connected to Robin.

DC Comics is attempting to block an attempt by Rihanna’s company to trademark the name “Robyn”, arguing it is too close to the name of Batman’s sidekick.

Roraj Trade – which holds the trademark for her Rebelle By Rihanna and Reb’L Fleur perfumes – applied to register the trademark last June with the intention of using it to publish “online non-downloadable general feature magazines.” Robyn is Rihanna’s first name.

DC Comics formally submitted their complaint on May 11, arguing that Rihanna’s proposed online magazine is “identical and/or highly related” to DC’s existing properties. The comic book publisher believes a Robyn magazine “is likely to cause confusion, cause mistake, or to deceive the public” into thinking Rihanna’s publication is connected to Robin, The Boy Wonder. We hope Swedish pop star Robyn is watching her back.

This isn’t the only legal difficulty to befall Rihanna this year – last month she was accused of plagiarising ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’. [via Billboard]
