Listen to a four song sample below.

Though Minecraft is often mythologized as the singular creation of game designer Markus “Notch” Persson, one of its defining qualities came from someone else. Musician Daniel Rosenfeld, working under the name C418, is responsible for the gentle, lulling ambient melodies present throughout the game. Now Ghostly International will compile many of those pieces for the first vinyl release of the music behind the game.

The first of two volumes, Minecraft Volume Alpha is due August 21 on vinyl. The initial pressing will come on clear green vinyl, so if that strikes your fancy you might want to preorder now.
