Nicolas Jaar has supervised the creation of a sound piece using samples donated by William Basinski, Holly Herndon, Powell, Julia Holter and more.

‘Other People’s Imaginary Feast’ was put together by the producer’s Other People label in order to demonstrate the technology behind Sensory Percussion, a sensor that allows drummers to play an array of samples from an acoustic drum kit (it’s nearly reached its Kickstarter goal).

Lorenzo Senni, DJ Slugo, Vaghe Stelle, Darkside’s Dave Harrington and Austin Cesear also contributed samples to the piece, which was played by a drum ensemble including Max Almario of Celestial Shore and Jeremy Hyman of Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks.

Watch an introduction below and hear the full piece at Other-People.net.

Personalised Advertising

These technologies are used for things like:

- personalised ads
- to limit how many times you see an ad
- to understand usage via Google Analytics
- to understand how you got to our web properties
