“More measures need to be considered to create a safe environment for all patrons and a zero tolerance for illicit drugs”.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have voted unanimously to look into placing a ban on raves on county property following the deaths of two teenage girls at HARD Summer this past weekend, the LA Times reports.

These deaths have sparked discussions that began when a 15-year-old girl died at Electric Daisy Carnival in 2010, effectively ending festival’s presence in the county.

“As we move forward, more measures need to be considered to create a safe environment for all patrons and a zero tolerance for illicit drugs,” said board member Hilda Solis.

The ban would specifically prevent raves and EDM festivals from being held on government land. HARD Summer, for example, was held in Pomona on land primarily leased from the state.

The plan proposal as well as new safety steps will be presented to the board in two weeks for further approval.
