New York producer lands on pioneering Belgian imprint.

Sporting Life, producer (and rapper) for hip-hop group Ratking, is joining Belgian label R&S for a string of solo releases beginning with 55 5’s, a 10-track album that imitates the format of a beat tape.

The release is named after the producer’s Roland SP-555 sampler – a bigger brother to the legendary 303 and 404 models popularised by Madlib and Ras G – and takes inspiration from Arca, Actress, DJ Rashad and Aphex Twin, according to the press release.

55 5’s is released September 11 on cassette and digital formats. It will be followed by a full-length solo album in 2016.
