Bone conduction headphones are launching next year.
StudioBananaThings has unveiled the Batband, a set of headphones that allow you to listen to music through bone conduction, a similar technology to hearing aids that transfer sound through the skull.
Rather than being placed over the ear, the Batband fits around the head and allows users to listen to music directly with in their inner ear (the part that actually does the hearing), while keeping their outer ear free and alert.
The Kickstarter for the Batband has already reached its goal, which means we’ll likely see the debut of their “ear-free” headphones next year. We’re not totally sure what that sensation would even feel like, but now we really want to try it.
