Just like the food sold at Aldi supermarkets, it’s cheap.

If Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal don’t appeal to your personal brand, then perhaps Aldi’s new streaming service will be more to your taste.

Launched last week, Aldi Life Musik doesn’t have a free tier, but it costs just €7.99 per month – less than any of its rivals. Perhaps the most surprising thing about Aldi’s offering is that it’s powered by Napster’s streaming catalogue, undercutting that also.

Unfortunately for the Aldi brand loyalists the service is currently only available in Germany. We can only hope it fares better than Blinkbox Music, the streaming service formerly owned by Tesco that went into administration in June. [via CMU]
