Last year, Megafaun’s Nick Sanborn proved his production chops with Sylvan Esso, his collaborative synthpop project with Mountain Man singer Amelia Meath, on their self-titled debut. This fall Sanborn focuses in on his solo project, Made Of Oak, for its debut EP, Penumbra, this Friday.

Removed from his great chemistry with Meath, Made Of Oak finds Sanborn taking on full duty crafting unique melodies while also turning towards a slightly darker atmosphere as on the chilly 8-bit thump of ‘Pinebender’. It’ll be interesting to hear what he comes up with when Sylvan Esso gears up for album two. Stream Penumbra below and check him out on tour this month.
