The band will regroup in the wake of their leader’s death.

Prince’s backing band The Revolution have announced they will reunite to honor the rockstar’s legacy in the wake of his death.

The group — consisting of Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z., Brown Mark, and Matt Fink — made the announcement via a short video on Facebook.

“We have decided, after spending three or four days together now grieving over the loss of Prince, that we would like to come out and do some shows,” said Melvoin. “We want to let you know that we’ll be there soon.”

Though Prince had many bands during his career, none was more iconic than The Revolution. The band played on several of Prince best records including the electro-based double album 1999 and his psychedelic left-turn Around The World In A Day, but they were truly immortalized in the film Purple Rain and its soundtrack.

The band previously regrouped in 2011 for a charity event held at Minneapolis’s First Avenue following drummer Bobby Z’s near-fatal heart attack.
