The deal would be the biggest in history for a British musician.

Adele is set to sign a £90 million deal with Sony Music, the Sun reports.

“We’ve secured Adele, who’s without doubt the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive,” said a source from the label.

The deal would make history as the biggest signed by a British musician, following Robbie Williams’s £80 million EMI deal in 2002. It would also top that of any international female artist, a record currently held by the late Whitney Houston and her £70 million signing with Arista from 2001.

The Adele deal is being worked on by Sony’s Columbia label in the US and would give Sony the rights to release her future music exclusively around the world.

The ‘Hello’ singer, whose contract with XL Recordings is coming to a close, would double her current fortune of £85 million if she were to sign with Sony.

FACT has approached XL for comment.

Meanwhile, Adele has confirmed that she will headline this year’s Glastonbury.
