Update, May 26: The curse lives on.

And he is still cursed.

Five years ago today, Lil B put the Based God’s Curse on Oklahoma City basketball player Kevin Durant.

The two have had years of beef, including Durant inviting Lil B to take it to the court. We know Lil B, né Brandon McCartney, has some hooping skills, as he’s tried out for the Bay Area minor league team. But where does Lil B excel the most? Churning out mixtapes – and his 2014-released Hoop Dreams included the Durant diss ‘Fuck KD’.

But the two have still not squashed the beef, and as of May 16, Durant is still cursed.

Later tonight, his team the Thunder will face-off against FACT faves (ok, fine Chal and my faves) the Golden State Warriors in game 5 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. (And yes, this is the NBA team whose development squad Lil B tried out for.)

If the Thunder win tonight, then they will head to the championship, aka one step closer to a trophy the Based God’s Curse is supposed to ensure Durant will never get.

The Warriors play in Oakland and since Lil B is from the Bay Area, this should give the team some extra Based sauce in these playoffs games. But it hasn’t! Hopefully on the five-year anniversary, its power will strengthen and the Warriors will win their next three games.
