“The reality is that the costs of touring are simply too high for us to endeavor on such a short run.”

Prophets Of Rage, the supergroup containing members of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cyprus Hill, have recently announced a tour featuring the rock band AWOLNATION. Unfortunately, that means AWOLNATION have pulled out of a majority of their current dates with Death From Above 1979, who have announced they will be unable to play any the tour now.

“We scrambled all weekend to try and still make things work, but there simply is no way,” said DFA 1979 on their Facebook page, explaining they had no prior knowledge about the change. Though the tour still had dates that were unchanged, the Toronto cult-rock duo say it’s just not financially possible.

“As boring and/or square as it is to say, the reality is that the costs of touring are simply too high for us to endeavor on such a short run,” they write.

On the bright side, refunds are available and the band will be back on tour in the fall with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Deap Vally.

Keep an eye out for Death From Above 1979 in October and revisit their iconic breakthrough single below.
