The real ‘Panda’ follow-up.

Desiigner’s XXL Freshman freestyle caught a lot of attention, both good and bad, for being more of a meditative hymnal than an actual hot 16 off the top of his head.

Unlike his debut tape New English, ‘Timmy Turner’, the track the freestyle has morphed into, is a richer palette of what to expect creatively from the Brooklyn rapper than Future pantomime via ‘Panda’.

Working with Mike Dean – the G.O.O.D. Music creative incubator comes with great collaborators – ‘Timmy Turner’ has gone from its Ladysmith Black Mambazo-gleaned rumination to smoke ’em if you got ’em turn-up to piano ballad (seriously) to what we have below.

Will Desiigner truly be a one-hit wonder? ‘Timmy’ may be his real turn to transcend it… even if this sounds more like Future than ‘Panda’ does.
