Shopify, Airbnb and PayPal were also hit.

Earlier today, a host of popular sites, including Spotify, Netflix, Twitter, Reddit and SoundCloud, experienced service disruption because of a DDoS attack, reports TechCrunch. Major papers like the The Boston Globe and The New York Times, among other news sources also suffered outages.

The DDoS attack, also known as a distributed denial of service attack, was on Dyn, which basically directs all web traffic to where it needs to go. The eastern United States suffered the biggest interruption of use, but it was quelled before 9:30 AM EST.

This story is still developing.
