Mariah gives precisely zero fucks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mariah Carey performed at New York’s Times Square last night as part of ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve TV coverage. However, the show didn’t quite go to plan, with a series of technical glitches resulting in what was quickly declared by Twitter one of the most awkward TV performances in recent memory.

The performance got off to a steady enough start, with the singer performing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ before two of her own songs, ‘Emotions’ and ‘We Belong Together’. It was at this point things took a turn for the worse, with Mariah forgetting lyrics, lip-syncing poorly, expressing her annoyance at her dancers and telling the crowd to sing instead of her, before sarcastically declaring “that was amazing.” She concluded her performance by telling the crowd “it just don’t get any better” before walking off stage. Watch the clip below.

The singer quickly shot to the top of trending topics on Twitter, as fans reacted to the bizarre appearance. Luckily though, Mariah was later on hand with the most coolly Mariah response imaginable.
