A fresh take on modular synthesis.
Los Angeles-based Percussa has launched its Synthor System 8 synth at this year’s NAMM show in California, and FACT was there to get a demonstration of the unique instrument.
The Synthor System 8 is a hardware digital modular synth consisting of three key components: the Engine module with Synthor software, the Remote wireless base station and eight wireless AudioCubes, which serve as a patching interface.
Its onboard synthesis software can be controlled both by the Remote’s controls and by moving the AudioCubes apart from each other. It’s a bit like the Reactable system, but with a synth engine attached that will appeal to those who like complex digital synths.
Synthor’s software is also expandable with more synth modules via SD card, and the Engine can be mounted above the Remote with optional aluminium rack ears. It’s price has not been set yet. Find out more at the Percussa website, and look for more coverage from NAMM 2017 this week.
