“I believe I am one of the minds that ’Pac said would spark to change the world.”

In a new interview with Genius, New York rapper Joey Bada$$ discusses some of his heroes in honor of Black History Month. They include Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Afeni Shakur and Tupac Shakur – who Bada$$ says, in the same interview, he has already bested, as far as rap skills go.

“I believe the last generation always has the opportunity to outshine the previous generation,” he says. “They gave you their best. They set the bar… I believe I am one of the minds that ’Pac said would spark to change the world. I believe I am one of those, but I’m probably not gonna change the world.”

He then goes on to say that it will probably be someone from the generation that follows his who will actually change the world, but still says, half-seriously: “I already know I’m a better rapper than Tupac. That’s just facts. In a one-on-one battle, I’ll flame ’Pac.”
